Problem
Why cloud AI is a risk for most businesses
The math sounds simple. You need AI, so you use ChatGPT, Copilot or another cloud solution. Set up an API key, start using it, done. Until someone asks where the data actually goes.
The answer is uncomfortable. With OpenAI, data flows through US servers. With Google, the same. With Microsoft — depending on configuration — likewise. Every customer inquiry your team enters into a cloud AI tool, every document that gets summarized, every email a chatbot answers — all of it is processed on infrastructure outside the EU, subject to the US CLOUD Act.
For many businesses, this isn’t just a theoretical problem. Doctors processing patient data. Accountants with client information. Lawyers with confidential correspondence. Financial services with personal data. For all of these, using US cloud AI isn’t just risky — it’s potentially illegal.
But even for businesses without particularly sensitive data, there’s a second problem: dependency. Anyone who builds their processes on a platform that can raise prices, change terms of service or discontinue the product at any time is building on someone else’s foundation. Your AI system doesn’t belong to you. It belongs to the vendor.
Solution
IRIDIUM™ — AI on your own infrastructure, under your control
IRIDIUM™ is our framework for local AI systems. The models run on hardware in your business or in a European data center. No data leaves your network. No API calls to US servers. No third parties processing your data.
In practice: your AI system runs on a dedicated hardware unit located in your server room or operated by a European hosting provider. The language models that handle your tasks — text generation, document processing, knowledge queries, image generation — run exclusively on this infrastructure. Your IT team or we as operator have access. Nobody else.
The difference from cloud AI is fundamental. With cloud solutions, you’re a user of someone else’s system. With IRIDIUM™, you’re the operator of your own system. You decide which models run. You decide which data gets processed. You decide when updates are applied. No vendor lock-in. No price increases you have to accept. No policy changes that break your workflows overnight
How it works
How we set up your local AI system
01
Requirements analysis and sizing
We define what your system needs to do. Which tasks should the AI handle? How many users work with it simultaneously? What response times are expected? From that, we determine the hardware sizing — how much compute, memory and storage your system needs. No over-engineering. No under-sizing. Exactly what your use case demands.
02
Hardware configuration and model deployment
We configure the hardware — either an IRIDIUM™ system for your location or a dedicated instance in a European data center. The appropriate models are deployed: language models for text processing, embedding models for knowledge queries, specialized models for your specific tasks. Everything is tested before the system goes into operation.
03
Frontend and integration
Your team needs an interface they can use — no terminal, no programming skills required. We build custom frontends tailored to your workflows. Chatbot interfaces for customer communication. Search interfaces for internal knowledge bases. Admin panels for management. Everything integrates into your existing infrastructure — email, CRM, document management.
04
Operation, monitoring and updates
The system runs — and gets maintained. We monitor performance, availability and response quality. When new model versions appear that are better suited for your tasks, we deploy them. When your requirements change — new use cases, more users, additional data sources — the system expands. Not a one-time project, but ongoing operation.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions about local AI solutions
What does a local AI system cost?
That depends on configuration. An IRIDIUM™ entry system — hardware, model deployment, one use case with frontend — starts at €5,000. Systems with multiple use cases, RAG integration and comprehensive system connections typically range from €8,000 to €15,000. For ongoing operation and optimization, we offer monthly support packages. In the diagnostic call, you get a clear cost estimate based on your requirements.
How much space and power does the hardware need?
Less than most think. An IRIDIUM™ system is a compact mini PC — smaller than a shoebox. It needs a power outlet and a network connection. No server room, no rack, no elaborate cooling. For businesses without a physical location for the hardware, we offer European dedicated hosting as an alternative.
Are the models as good as ChatGPT?
For most business use cases — yes. Open-source models like Llama and Mistral have made enormous progress in the last two years. For tasks like text generation, summarization, document processing and knowledge queries, they deliver comparable quality. The difference: they run locally, cost no ongoing API fees and send no data to third parties. For highly specialized tasks, we honestly recommend in the consultation which model is the right choice.
Can I operate the system myself?
Yes. We hand over a fully documented system that your IT team can operate independently. If you don’t have internal IT support or want to outsource operations, we handle monitoring, updates and optimization as part of a support package. You decide how much control you want to keep internally.
What happens when a better model comes out?
That’s the advantage of open source. You’re not tied to one vendor. When a more capable model appears — and that happens regularly — we evaluate it for your use cases and deploy it if it’s an improvement. No contract change. No vendor switch. A model update on your existing hardware.
How secure is the system?
As secure as your internal network. The AI runs on hardware you own or that’s dedicated to you. Data doesn’t leave your network. There are no API calls to external services. No telemetry, no usage data, no logs going to third parties. You have the same control as over any other server in your infrastructure.
What’s the difference from cloud AI with European hosting?
European hosting means servers located in the EU — but the provider is often still a US company subject to the CLOUD Act. That means US authorities can theoretically demand access to data regardless of server location. With IRIDIUM™, you own the system. There’s no third party with access. That’s the difference between “data in Europe” and “data under your control.”
